6-WEEK GIVING CHALLENGE
SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 9, 2019 // DAY 34
“Jesus immediately reached out his hand and took hold of him, saying to him, ‘O you of little faith, why did you doubt?’” Matthew 14:31 (ESV)

Many wondered about the secret of Arthur Rubinstein’s success. One of the twentieth century’s most prominent pianists, he was blessed with abundant natural abilities. But he felt the key to success was not talent alone, but also the willingness to be bold and take risks: “What troubles me about so many of the younger musicians I hear is that they think small and act small.”
Many limited themselves by being too timid. They “are afraid to feel, afraid to make a mistake.” If they wanted to be great, he encouraged them to be bold.
The problem of thinking small also plagued Jesus’ disciples. He knew that nothing was impossible. He demonstrated this truth one evening by walking on the water. As Jesus approached, Peter asked, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.”
When Jesus told him to come, “Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water.” But when his attention shifted to the surrounding winds and waves, he became afraid. Beginning to sink, Peter cried out, “Lord, save me.” Jesus did save him, but then described Peter as a man of “little faith.” He asked, “Why did you doubt?”
When we think about our problems, we too can doubt. If we apply what Jesus said to Peter, we should learn to be bold in trusting God, and not be distracted by circumstances or our weaknesses. We are to focus on Him and practice walking by faith.
Today, allow God to deliver you from small thinking. Have faith to be bold. Declare His promises to be true for you. Remember. You serve the God who created the universe. For Him nothing is impossible. You can believe Him for big things in your life, and in the lives of others.

Prayer
Father, forgive me for doubting You or limiting Your power. I commit these situations to You: _____. Give me the boldness to believe that You can do anything. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
